Your Day (a letter to my son)

It would be natural to my character…to our character…if we just flipped the page on this chapter of life and went about the day as usual, with no special attention being placed on it. The more I think about it, though, the more I realize that it’s worth stepping out of our natural characters and making it a special occasion. This also may be the only opportunity I have to make a meaningful statement to you, so I’ll take it.

Today, I will officially step down as your school principal and administrator, but I will always be your teacher and guidance counselor.

I am so grateful for the last five years in which God blessed me with the honor of teaching you at home. Honestly, I feel I should even offer you a word of appreciation because it was for your sake that I was bold…

I currently live in Denton, North Carolina with my husband and two youngest sons...and my crazy hound, Jabbo, my feisty beagle, Maggie Jolene, my ESA Walker hound, Sweety P (rest in peace May 31, 2022), my adopted Yorkie named Chief, my brand new puppy (as of August 2022), Dolly Belle the Beagle, and Kayleigh the cat. My husband and I are veterans of the military and we bought this place in 2019 and have since started a small farming business. My heart gets a little homesick for my home in Jackson County, Florida, but I have learned to make the most of where God has me at this time in my life....and I have fallen in love with the mountains, which I take advantage of fully. I have a unique variety of interests and hobbies, but I always keep God first and He is my number one priority. I love all things of God, nature, history, theology, Bible, parenting, genealogy, writing, acting, road trips, music, photography, reading out loud, board games, bike riding, hiking, and so much more. I am a living, breathing product of God's saving grace and I love to share my life story and passion for healing the broken and loving the unlovable. I believe there's power in the name (and blood) of Jesus because I have experienced it personally and witness it constantly. I'm on a journey through this world and I aim to show God's love every moment while I'm traveling through. You will see that I talk about a wide variety of topics and share my life from Jackson County, Florida to Denton, North Carolina...and everything in between. My husband is an Army veteran and a veteran of the war in Iraq. My oldest son is in the NC Army NG, and lives in nearby Lexington, NC with his beautiful wife. Obviously, I am a supporter of our troops, active duty and veterans. I am an American Patriot 100%. I believe that, while our country has its flaws, we can reach out with the love of Christ and make a difference through selfless service to others. I'm an adventurer at heart with a vintage soul! I am a girl at heart...one who has overcome many obstacles and challenges in life, but refuses to give up. Through social media and blogging, I love to share my life with the hopes of encouraging others to live life fully and purposefully....and maybe even move others to DO whatever they can to love others, give hope to the hopeless, and change lives. There are many aspects of the journey I am on and I write from the perspective of: a Christian, a teacher, a chaplain, a counselor, a formerly broken girl who was rescued and healed by God, a wife, a farmer, an adventure enthusiast, a mother, a hope dealer, a grieving person, an overcome, a learner, and more. Every day I am inspired by a different part of my life, but all of my inspiration comes from God.
